KIPP Atlanta Collegiate Prom: The Gala

STEP 1: The Logo

The prom’s theme was inspired by The Met Gala’s luxury and elevated attention to art. This year’s prom committee rented out High Museum of Art in Atlanta, so the venue and theme matched perfectly. Gold gilded and luxurious were the goals.

STEP 2: The Invitation

This year’s invitation was based on Vogue’s announcement issue for the Met Gala. Two students attended a luxurious photo shoot at the High Museum to provide the basis for our stunning invitation. A bi-fold US Letter with a photo spread and all the details.

STEP 3: The Graphics

ENTRY - Renaissance Reverie

The entry experience was a timeless, renaissance-inspired nod to the classics. Guests arrived in style at the bottom of red-carpeted stairs with photo opportunities at both the top and bottom levels. The red carpet led attendees past a paparazzi wall to a Venetian-plaster textured wall with gilded logos and timeless decorations.

I was in charge of creating the cut files for the acrylic logos, the photo moment backdrop images, and logo gobo files.

TRANSITION

After guests checked in, they traveled from the Renaissance Reverie into the Basquiat Exhibition through a hallway flanked with a gallery of artists. Just like the physical transition, the gallery walls transitioned from Renaissance elements to the Basquiat print custom created for this event.

I was in charge of the gallery wall design and layout with the school’s artist choices and descriptions.

CELEBRATION - The Basquiat Experience

Guests exited the gallery transition tunnel, traveled through custom-shaped arches, and entered the atrium to see a wrapped DJ stage with a full backdrop and print gobos lighting up several stories.
